Happy New Year! To be honest, the new year kind of sneaked up on me, but ready or not here it is! Do you make resolutions? What changes are you making this year? Whether you’re looking to make improvements or ready to just keep on keeping on, here are some events going on around the Gem City this weekend:
Whether you’re a regular visitor or have never been, stop by the Air Force Museum’s Space STEM Learning Node this Friday between 1 and 3 pm for a sneak peek! This program takes place every first and third Friday of the month and is open to all visitors.
Front Street Building Co. invites you to enjoy the work of over 100 Artists and Artisans. Their complex is made of FOUR buildings where you will find a combination of painters, printmakers, jewelry artists, sculptors, glass artists, mixed media artists, potters, etc. This event runs the first Friday of every month from 5 to 9 pm.
See this classic film on the big screen! At the Plaza Theatre in Miamisburg, there are showings on Friday (5:20 pm), Saturday (5:20 pm), and Sunday (1 pm). All tickets are just $5. If you’ve never seen this movie, I recommend it!
If you love drinking coffee but want to learn more about the craft, join Barista, Shelby for Coffee 101 at Gem City Catfé. This class taught for beginners from the ground up in an approachable setting. The class starts at 6 pm on Friday with tickets costing $5 (reservations required).

Interested in trying your hand at drawing? Or maybe you’re a lifelong sketcher? On Sunday at 3 pm, come to the Dayton Art Institute to experience the galleries in a new way by drawing the collection! Every session includes an hour-long drawing activity in the gallery with the guidance of a museum instructor. Each session features one gallery and has a different element of art theme (line, color, balance, contrast, etc.). All materials are provided and all abilities are welcome. Please note: this program is for ages 12 and up. Tickets are $5 for members and $10 for non-members.
