Historic Halloween Tours

Halloween is upon us once again!  While I am not one for traditional haunted houses, Halloween-themed historic tours are more my speed, and there is no shortage of spooky tours in the Dayton area to check out this October.

Moon

Ghost Walk on Main – Centerville (Oct 4th and 11th)

Take a guided haunted history walk through downtown Centerville.  Tours depart from the Asahel Wright House at 6 pm, but be sure to check in starting at 5:30 pm.  Tickets cost $25, and they promise spooktacular fun! (Must be 21 or older)

History Mystery, Murder, and Mayhem – Woodland Cemetery

Come hear true stories of Dayton’s greatest mysteries as part of a walking tour through Woodland Cemetery.  These tours run Monday through Thursday in October with the final tour being on October 25th.  Tours begin at 6:30 pm and are free to the public (donations are always appreciated), but RSVPs are required.

Halloween Sidewalk

Spirit of Huffman – Historic Huffman (Oct 12th and 13th)

“Where Halloween and History Collide”  This guided tour through Historic Huffman is expected to be “Dayton’s most unique tour of historic homes”.  The two-hour tours begin at 6 pm on Friday evening and 4 pm on Saturday afternoon, and will be held rain or shine.  Tickets are on sale with a cost of $18.  Participants are recommended to be at least 12 years of age.

Haunted Tour – Miamisburg (Oct 26th and 27th)

Attend the second annual Haunted Tour of Miamisburg, hosted by the Baum Opera.  Guided tours will depart from the Opera starting at 5:30 pm and leave every half hour thereafter until 8:30 pm.  Tours, lasting about two hours, require tickets for those 12 years and older, and the cost is $12.

I love the idea of Halloween, but I HATE being startled.  So, if you’re like me, consider coming out to one or more of these events and enjoy the season in a more laid back setting.  I’m really looking forward to the coming holiday and I hope you are too!
